$13,500 raised of $232,000 with one school committed and two schools in the pipeline.

Overview

Schools offer a pressing space to discuss issues around AI safety. Teachers, parents, and administrators are highly sensitive to existential questions such as the ethical implications of AI in decision-making, the role of automation in future employment, and how AI could shape societal values. These concerns highlight the need to equip students with critical thinking skills and a foundational understanding of AI’s benefits and risks.

With “AI for Every Student,” the 11:11 Philosophers Group strives not only to ensure equitable access to AI tools and education but also to foster informed discussions about AI safety, empowering the next generation to navigate and shape the future responsibly.

Process

  1. Fundraise and provide schools funding to launch AI Integration during Spring 2025 semester. Schools will define outcomes, budget, and process to providing AI for Every Student and we will fundraise to provide tools and PD resources. (We suggest a 18 month budget of $20/student + $400/student.) Our goal is to fundraise for 3 schools (roughly 3000 students) in New Orleans, delivering funding by 1/1/25 before scaling the plan. Funders will primarily be reached out to as schools present their budgets. See our School + Donor Facing document: https://noai.philosophers.group/ai-for-every-student/
  2. Report Progress to cohort of additional schools by June 2025. Immediate lessons will be disussed in an open conversation with members from additional 6-10 additional schools.
  3. Schools report progress at NOAI (11/11/25). During our annual AI festival, schools will report progress to invited AI experts and other school members. We hope to center this discussion around both AI Safety and immediate utility to students. NOAI also offers a chance to scale the program. We hope to provide transport and busing for schools, fundraised based on needs established via Summer 2025 signup campaign.
  4. Publish resources to scale program. Online resources will be developed from NOAI discussions and general analysis of school progress. The resource will include “next steps,” with aspirations to scale to other schools in New Orleans with aspirations to scale globally. This will be paid for through funds from our 2025 signup campaign.
