We cannot retreat to the convenience of being overwhelmed. -Ruth Messinger

Theory of Change

Donald Trump’s war on undocumented immigrants puts an already disenfranchised population in our nation’s crosshairs. We must dedicate funds to pay for basic needs of the most disenfranchised.

Where to Give

Logging gifts help us increase cash to organizations.

Accountability

Blake will be visiting and following up with organizations throughout the year to understand where money is going. We aim for 100% of funds to go to undocumented immigrants in crisis situations.

Why not tackle larger, long-term, systemic problems?

Direct Giving extinguishes fires burning now. Food, shelter, and basic utilities are basic needs that the government doesn’t provide undocumented immigrants. Philanthropy must fill that void.

F.A.Q.

What is the vision behind this project?

Like our 11:11 Direct Local Giving - NOLA project, this work can be a model of getting resources to those who need it most. We aim to be a source for caseworkers to access funds for emergency needs that they run into every day. Hotel rooms after wrongful evictions. Food when pantries are closed. Beds for undocumented immigrants expected to sleep on floors.

This is a start of a fund to relieve preventable suffering. We will make mistakes on our way to best addressing our one goal: relive the preventable suffering of those who need aid most.

Our operation will be extremely slim, as we aim for 100% of our funds to go directly to help with needs. That’s better than the top GiveWell charity, Against Malaria.

We can achieve our goal by developing the trust of organizations who are directly help crisis situations.
